With troops stationed throughout D.C. and Trump’s threats to send forces to major U.S. cities such as New York and Chicago, alongside his revival of stagflation in the United States, Americans are not entirely thrilled with Donald Trump’s performance as president.

Now seems like a good opportunity to take a step back and see what the polls are saying on average about this very metric.

Using data from the past thirty days, an average of fourteen job approval polls put Trump’s approval at 44 percent, while his disapproval is eight points higher at 52 percent.

For historical context, at this point in Trump’s first term, RCP had his average approval at 39 percent, while his disapproval was at 56 percent, which is higher than the current averages.

I think the situation is that Trump has been normalized for many Americans. Those who remember his first presidency recall the consistent backlash he faced from the public. Now, that backlash is more tepid. It is still present, but much more muted than before, even as his actions have become more radical and erratic.

Nonetheless, let’s take a look at how some subgroups are polling on Trump’s approval, and see who is actually pushing back against the president today.
